Yokohama Rubber Group Donates 13.1 Million Yen to Support Aid for Philippine Typhoon Victims

Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that the Company and its overseas group companies have made donations to the Red Cross in their respective countries to support that organization's efforts to aid victims of the devastating typhoon that struck the Philippines this past November. In addition to a 5.0 million yen donation by Yokohama Rubber to the Red Cross in Japan, eight group subsidiaries in Germany, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Australia and the United States have contributed a total of 3.6 million yen. In addition, three subsidiaries in the Philippines and elsewhere will contribute an additional 4.5 million yen, bringing the Yokohama Rubber Group's total contribution to 13.1 million yen.

Typhoon Haiyan, the year's strongest typhoon, struck the Philippines on November 8 and inflicted massive damage in the country's central region. According to data released by the Philippines national disaster agency on December 13, the typhoon's death toll now stands at more than 6,000 people, with about another 1,800 still missing. More than 27,000 people were injured, and some 3.9 million were forced to evacuate their homes.
