Yokohama Rubber's Tire Sales Company in Australia Obtains ISO 14001 Certification

Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that Yokohama Tyre Australia Pty., Ltd. (YTA), its tire sales company in Australia, obtained ISO 14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems, on July 25, 2011. YTA began its efforts toward acquisition of certification in August 2010. Its practices were then reviewed by the Australian examination organization SAI Global Limited, and certified. YTA is the second of Yokohama Rubber's overseas tire sales companies to be accredited under ISO 14001, following Yokohama Tire Taiwan Co., Ltd.

YTA was established in 1976 and has 71 employees as of the end of July 2011. With its head office in Silverwater, New South Wales, it sells tires for passenger cars, trucks and buses, construction and mining equipment, etc., nationwide. YTA is committed to preserving the environment, and obtained Green Stamp certification from the Motor Trade Association (MTA) in November 2010 as a company actively promoting environmental protection. In addition to ISO 14001, YTA has obtained ISO 9001 certification, an international standard for quality management systems.

In April 2006, Yokohama Rubber released its Medium-Term Management Plan: Grand Design 100 (GD100), including a basic policy of asserting world-class strengths in technologies for protecting the environment. With ISO 14001 at the heart of business operations, domestic and overseas group companies endeavor to maintain uniform-quality, high-level environmental management, and all production sites have been accelerating their efforts to acquire ISO 14001 certification. A total of 28 group companies' domestic and overseas production sites have been certified.
