Tokyo - Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. announces that it will supply the official tires for the 52nd Macau Grand Prix, sponsored by FIA, to be held November 17-20 at the Guia Circuit, in Macau, China. Beginning in 1983, the company has supplied the official tires for the event for 23 consecutive years.

First held in 1954, the Macau Grand Prix - run through the streets of Macau - is the oldest motor race in Asia. The event is roughly divided into four categories - the F3 Grand Prix, the motorcycle Grand Prix, the Guia Race (for modified touring cars), and other support races. With the world's top F3 drivers participating, the F3 Grand Prix virtually determines the world's number one driver among them. Past F3 winners at Macau who have gone on to star in F1 racing include Aryton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Takuma Sato. Beginning last year, the requirement was added - as is the case in F1 - that cars use the same engine from preliminary trials to the final race. This year, 33 cars and drivers from 12 countries will compete.

Yokohama Rubber will also supply tires for other support races. The company will provide about 1,500 dry and wet tires for all races.
