Tokyo- The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it will support five cars from four teams in the 73rd 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will be held over the weekend of June 18-19 at the Sarthe Circuit in France.

The company will support the famed Courage Competition works team in the LMP1 Class. It will supply specially developed racing tires to two entries from the veteran French chassis constructor. In the LM-GT Class, Yokohama will assist Porsche works team Alex Job Racing/BAM, Seikel Motorsport, and T2M Motorsports. Alex Job Racing/BAM will run on tires that it developed jointly with Yokohama. Seikel Motorsport and T2M Motorsports will use tires based on the Super GT that Yokohama modified with enhanced durability specially for Le Mans. Last year, teams that Yokohama supported in the LM-GT Class finished second and fourth, the fifth straight year in which an entry using the companyユs tires has placed among the class leaders.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans has a long and distinguished tradition, beginning in 1923. It ranks alongside the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Daytona as one of the world's premier endurance races. Every year, roughly 50 cars compete in two categories, the Prototype Class (LMP1/LMP2) for cars that are specially designed for racing, and the Grand Touring (GT) Class (LM-GT1/LM-GT2) for production-based cars.
