The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., will participate in the three-day Aircraft Interiors Expo 2005, which starts on April 5 at the Hamburg International Exhibition and Conference centre. The annual event is the world's largest for aircraft interiors. The company will exhibit its lavatory modules and water tanks in its first appearance at the exposition.

Yokohama's key exhibit will be a lavatory module that it developed for the Boeing 737. The new module reduces maintenance by using LEDs for indirect lighting, thus cutting power consumption and replacement frequency, and by employing stainless steel and phenolic in the floor structure instead of aluminum. The module has double the capacity of conventional counterparts for toilet paper and other supplies. It also offers such convenient features as an automatic faucet that enables water temperature adjustment with one hand. The interior also features a contemporary and comfortable curved design.

Aerospace operations complement Yokohama's core tire business. As well as supplying Boeing with lavatory modules and water tanks, the company manufactures water and waste tanks for the Airbus A380. Other aerospace offerings include parts incorporating rubber, metals, and composite materials.
