Tokyo-The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., has announced that Dr.Ing.h.c.F.Porsche AG of Germany has selected the AVS Sport as an original equipment tyre for the 2001 model Boxster and Boxster S. The tyres will be installed on the 18-inch models, which will be marketed from February 2001. The tyre size is 225/40 ZR18 for the front, and 265/35 ZR18 for the rear.

Yokohama developed the AVS Sport with the goal of achieving the highest possible performance in a street tyre. In the selection of original equipment tyres for the 2001 Boxster models, the AVS Sport received strong marks for its high-level achievement of both dry and wet performance. The Y-shaped design adopted for the AVS Sport tread pattern realizes even groove distribution over the entire surface of the tyre, and greatly improves drainage, wet grip and driving stability at high speeds. In addition, by adjusting the angle of the main groove, Yokohama was able to significantly reduce outside tyre noise.

The Porsche Boxster is a two-seater mid-ship sports car, and the Porsche Boxster S is a high-end model in which the exhaust has been expanded to gain greater engine power. Both of these models are renowned for their high running performance and excellent driving stability.
