Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it would exhibit its products at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2007 to be held from April 17 through 19 in Hamburg, Germany. The trade show is a world-class showcase of the latest in passenger aircraft interiors including chairs, galleys and lavatory modules. This year, over 500 companies are expected to participate in the show that may attract visitors from more than 150 airlines around the world. Yokohama Rubber has continued to participate in the show since 3 years ago.

Yokohama Rubber is one of the world-leading makers of passenger aircraft lavatory modules. The company was the exclusive supplier of lavatory modules for the Boeing 757 passenger aircraft until 2004 and is currently supplying Boeing 737 with lavatory modules based on an exclusive supply contract to be effective until 2010. While production of the 757 has already been discontinued, many of the 757 aircrafts are still in operation and increasingly require interior refurbishing. In addition, Boeing has so far received orders for a total of over 6,000 aircrafts in the best-selling 737 family with current backlog of orders being approximately 1,600. The number of 737 family aircrafts in operation is therefore expected to increase from now on, with a remarkable increase in refurbishing needs.

Yokohama Rubber plans to aggressively market replacement-use lavatory modules by utilizing its technological superiority and brand power proven through OEM supply to Boeing. In this year's Aircraft Interiors Expo, the company will unveil a newly developed lightweight and comfortable lavatory module exclusively to airlines and aircraft manufacturers. Besides this, its general exhibits will include a new windowed model developed for 737 family aircrafts with all the passenger seats standardized on business-class specifications, and a model designed for refurbishing the 757 aircrafts. Thus, Yokohama Rubber plans to meet airline requirements for differentiation by enhancing its lineup of lavatory units.
