Yokohama Rubber To Supply Official Tires for 50th Macau F3 Grand Prix

Tokyo-The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it will supply the official tires for the 50th Macau Grand Prix, to be held from November 8 through 16 at the Guia circuit in Macao, China. This will be 21st consecutive year that Yokohama Rubber supplies the official tires for the event.
The Macau Grand Prix is the oldest motor race in Asia. The circuit covers temporarily closed public roads in Macao. Formula 3 Grand Prix effectively determines the world's number one Formula 3 driver, as it attracts the top Formula 3 drivers from Europe and Japan. Many past winners later moved to the Formula 1 class, including Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna. Japanese entrants placed third, fourth, and fifth last year. In 2001, Takuma Sato (now an Formula 1 driver) became the first Asian winner in the Macau race. This year, 30 cars from 16 countries will participate. Yokohama Rubber will also be official supplier for the Guia Race for modified touring cars and for other support races during the Grand Prix period. Many Yokohama-equipped vehicles will feature in the Guia Race. They include the Toyota Altezza of Team ADVAN's Nobuteru Taniguchi. He has finished fourth in this event for the past two years. The company will provide approximately 2,000 dry and wet tires for the Formula 3 Grand Prix, the Guia Race, and other support events.
Marking the 50th anniversary of this Grand Prix will be several attractions, including classic and historic car races, as well as fireworks and other shows and a food festival.
