Message from the President

Giovanni Ponzoni

Yokohama Europe GmbH, based in Germany, serves as the European headquarters of Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. With around 240 employees, including those from affiliated companies across Europe, we are dedicated to fostering a sustainable society, a mission of the European Union's (EU) initiatives.
Recent EU regulations impose stricter controls particularly on ESG management. And Given the potential for similar developments in markets outside the EU in the medium to long term, we aspire to take on an even greater leadership role within the group, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of these efforts.

Organization and Governance

We distribute the "Internal Business Regulation & Procedures" and the "Employee Handbook & Policy Manual" to all employees, and they are expected to adhere to these codes of conduct. Every year, all employees are required to submit a signed acknowledgment of having read these documents to the HR Director.

Human Rights

The "Employee Handbook," which is held by all employees, includes a section titled "ETHIC CODE" that explicitly prohibits gender discrimination, racial discrimination, and discrimination against individuals with disabilities. To ensure thorough understanding and compliance, we allocate time during annual individual meetings with all employees to discuss these regulations.
From the printed version, we moved to digital.

Labor Practices

The "Employee Handbook," which is held by all employees, includes detailed sections on employee development, termination of employment, disciplinary actions, and promotions. These areas are neatly managed and overseen by our management team.

Environment

Raising and Enhancing Environmental Awareness

We have established a team dedicated to environmental measures and are committed to continuing community-based activities. Additionally, we encourage paper conservation and continuously promote digitalization efforts.

Complaint Handling and Training for Distributors

We strive to improve customer satisfaction by addressing complaints received through our distributors and enhancing the accuracy of complaint assessment by distributors (ensuring fair judgment).
To achieve this, we conduct basic training for staff of distributors to enhance their knowledge and professionalism for tires. Additionally, we provide advanced training for technical personnel to further their knowledge acquisition, aiming to enhance their professionalism.
Even as we move beyond the challenges left by the pandemic, we remain dedicated to enhancing the quality of our services. We aim to achieve this by utilizing the latest technology, including online seminars and E-learning tools, to educate our partners on a regular basis.

Community Engagement and Development

Engagement with the Local Community

Working experience event for young people

In April 2024, we successfully conducted Girls' and Boys' Day within our premises. The event focused on providing career guidance to young women and men, encouraging them to consider apprenticeships or degree programs in the future. This initiative enabled us to connect with the local community and foster mutual growth in a sustainable manner. Participants, aged 10 to 17, had a productive and informative experience with us.
