The Top Qualifying at the 24h Nürburgring decided the starting grid for the 24h Race. After Top Qualifying 1 a massive thunderstorm with enormous rain errupted on the racetrack.

Christian Krognes drove in the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 the 8th quickest time in Top Qualifying 1. Because of that, the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 didn´t qualify for Top Qualifying 2. Only the four fastest vehicles slip into the final session. 16 Cars were entered before in Top Qualifying 2 after their speed in the races before.

The M6 GT3 from team owner Henry Walkenhorst, who shares the car with Friedrich von Bohlen, Jörg Breuer and Andreas Ziegler was pre-entered in Top Qualifying 2. But the session was moved by 15 minutes after the thunderstorm hit the track. Because of the wheather the car didn´t start in the session. Walkenhorst Motorsport didn´t want to risk a crash before the race.

„We didn´t want to risk the cars in the Top Qualifying. Having a night shift is the worst thing before a 24h race. For the race we´re optimistic with our pace“, said Niclas Königbauer, the team manager from Walkenhorst Motorsport.

Yokohama tyre engineer Mark Williams is optimistic for the race, too. Yokohama collected a lot of data in the first races of the season and sessions of the race week. The cars showed a promising speed and Williams is optimistic for a good result.
