Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that in August it obtained company-wide integrated certification under ISO 14001, an international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). The certification covers Yokohama Rubber's nine locations: the head office and eight domestic production sites (Hiratsuka Factory, and Mie, Mishima, Shinshiro, Onomichi, Ibaraki, Nagano and Hiratsuka-East Plants).

Based on its basic policy of asserting world-class strengths in technologies for protecting the environment, included in its medium-term management plan "Grand Design 100 (GD100)," Yokohama Rubber promotes environmental management with ISO 14001 at its heart. For more than a decade, Yokohama Rubber endeavored at each site to obtain ISO 14001 certification. This was accomplished at all nine sites, starting with the Mishima Plant in July 1998 and concluding with the head office in March 2007.

Yokohama Rubber obtained company-wide integrated ISO 14001 certification in order to realize uniform-quality, high-level EMS under the company-wide environmental policy for the further improvement of environmental management. Beginning its effort toward obtaining the integrated certification in August 2011, Yokohama Rubber managed to acquire it after a year of preparation and ordering of its EMS accordingly.

In addition to Yokohama Rubber itself, five production sites of domestic group companies and 13 overseas group companies have acquired ISO 14001 certification.
