Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that it will begin supplying control tires for GT ASIA from the opening round held in Malaysia on May 25. Yokohama is supplying, for dry conditions, ADVAN A005 tires with improved environmental performance while maintaining solid grip thanks to the company's orange oil compounding technology, and, for wet conditions, the ADVAN A006.

With participation primarily of cars conforming to FIA GT3 regulations, GT ASIA is an international competition in Japan, Malaysia and Macau. Race distance of each round is either 90-140 kilometers or a maximum of 60 minutes. This year, 11 rounds in six events are scheduled, and three of the events will be held at the same time as the SUPER GT which draws the largest number of spectators in Japan. The final round will be staged as the support race of the F3 Macau Grand Prix - considered the race to decide the world's top F3 driver, and for which Yokohama has provided control tires for the past 30 years. As in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), race cars in GT ASIA equipped with Yokohama tires will surely add to the excitement of the Macau Grand Prix.

This season, Yokohama is supplying control tires for the ADAC GT Masters held primarily in Germany, and the Super Taikyu Series with its GT3 class in Japan. For the SUPER GT, too, Yokohama tires are selected for many FIA GT3 vehicles competing in the GT300 class. Around the world in increasingly popular races with FIA GT3 vehicles, more and more cars are competing on Yokohama tires.
