Update on Yokohama Rubber's Support for Relief Effort for People and Communities Affected by East Japan Earthquake

Tokyo-The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., issued an update today about its support for the relief effort for people and communities affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Today's update pertains to financial donations and other support provided by Yokohama, by its subsidiaries and affiliates, and by independent distributors.

By April 28, Yokohama Group companies and their employees had donated a total of approximately 88,500,000 yen (1,100,000 USD) to the relief effort. That total comprises donations of 61,700,000 yen (760,000 USD) by Yokohama Group companies and their employees in Japan, including a 50,000,000 yen (610,000 USD) corporate donation by the parent company, and 26,800,000 yen (330,000 USD) by group companies and their employees in other nations. The companies and employees made their contributions mainly through the Red Cross societies in their nations.

Yokohama Group companies have accompanied their financial donations with material support and with human assistance. The material support has included donations of food, clothing, and other necessities through the Japanese Red Cross Society and through other organizations. The human assistance has included participation by employee volunteers in onsite relief activities, the hiring of individuals who lost their jobs in the disaster, and funding for a year's free accommodation in public housing for persons displaced by the disaster.

Support for the relief effort by the Yokohama Group is ongoing. Management and employees at all of the group companies extend their deepest condolences to everyone affected by the earthquake and tsunami. And they are committed to helping people in the affected communities return to their predisaster lifestyles as soon as possible.
