Yokohama Tire-Mounted Cars Ranked High For The 3rd Straight Year At The 24 Hours Of Le Mans 2002

Tokyo—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that the cars using Yokohama's racing tires were ranked high in the LM-GT Class of the 70th 24 Hours of Le Mans race for the third year running by occupying the third and fourth places in the class. The race was held for two days from June 15 on the Sarthe Circuit in Le Mans, France.

The cars participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race are categorized into the Proto class (LMP900/LMP675) and Grand Touring class (LM-GTS/LM-GT). Proto class cars are designed specially for the race, while GT class cars are the same models as those sold in the market. This year, Yokohama Rubber supported two cars that participated in the LM-GT class. The race attained a high level of competition with almost no machine trouble or car crush.

In this circumstance, the two cars supported by Yokohama Rubber were ranked high, with one of them being the Porsche GT3R that came in the third place. The car was numbered 77 and driven by Atsushi Yogo, Akira Iida and Kazuyuki Nishizawa from Team Taisan Advan. Another was also the Porsche GT3R that followed the Taisan Advan car in the fourth place. It was numbered 82 and driven by F. Rosa, L.Riccitelli and L. Drudi from Seikel Motorsport of Germany.

Yokohama supplied the two cars with a total of approximately 600 tires: the models YOKOHAMA A005 for dry circuit use and YOKOHAMA A006 for wet circuit use. Their tire sizes were 250/650R18 for the front and 280/680R18 for the rear.
