Tokyo—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it would supply the official tires for the 49th Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix to be held on November 16 and 17 at the Guia circuit in Macao, China. This year marks the 20th anniversary in the Japanese tire maker's continued supply of the official tires to the race since 1983.

The winner of the Macau F3 Grand Prix has widely been regarded as the world's number one F3 driver because most European and Japanese F3 high rankers always participate in the race, which this year will attract 30 cars from six countries. Many F1 top drivers including Michael Schumacher and late Ayrton Senna won the race before they moved up to the F1 class. Last year, Takuma Sato from the Dallara F301 Mugen Honda team won the race for the first time as a Japanese driver. He is now driving in F1.

Yokohama Rubber will also supply the official tires to the Guia Race, in which touring cars with certain modifications participate, and other support races. Nobuteru Taniguchi from the Team Advan and many other Japanese drivers will compete in the Guia Race. Last year, the race saw Manabu Orido from the Team Advan come in the second place and some other Japanese drivers closely follow him.

Yokohama Rubber will provide a total of 1,500 dry and wet tires to the Grand Prix, Guia Race and other support races.
