A Streetcar on AVS Sport Renews Speed Record

Tokyo—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that a 4-door sedan, KLEEMANN E55K, mounting the tire company's AVS Sport recorded 338km/h, the fastest speed ever achieved by a streetcar on a proving ground just outside Papenburg, Germany.

The AVS Sport is Yokohama's flagship tire with the world's highest kinetic performance as a streetcar tire. First launched in May 1999, the AVS Sport is now available all over the world centering on Europe where it is equipped to Porsche Boxster and Boxster S and Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and DB7 Vantage as their original equipment. In August last year, the Gemballa Porsche GT600R attained the fastest course record on the northern course of the Nurburgring Circuit, Germany.

Kleemann A/S is a leading tuner of Mercedes-Benz cars. Its KLEEMANN E55K is a tuned-up version of E-Class-based AMG E55. The use of a supercharger has enabled KLEEMANN E55K to realize a maximum power output of 750Nm (equivalent to 650 horsepower) and acceleration performance of 4.6 seconds for 0 - 100km/h.
