Hiratsuka, Japan—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that Yokohama Industries Americas de Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. (YIA Mexico), the company’s automotive hose assembly production and sales subsidiary in Mexico, will expand its production capacity. The expansion will include construction of a new building on approx. 32,000 square meters of recently acquired land adjacent to YIA Mexico’s existing plant, more than doubling its current site area. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with operations expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2026. Yokohama Rubber is considering further expansion at YIA Mexico in the future.
YIA Mexico is Yokohama Rubber’s base for manufacturing air conditioning and transmission oil cooling hose assemblies for the North American market. The production capacity expansion in Mexico is aimed at strengthening YIA Mexico’s profitability and supporting the continued growth of Yokohama Rubber’s hose & couplings business.
Prior to the start of construction, a groundbreaking ceremony held on Tuesday October 14 was attended by the governor of the state of Aguascalientes, the mayor of the city of San Francisco de los Romo, and many other local government officials and representatives from the local community. Head of MB Division of Yokohama Rubber Takayuki Hamaya expressed his gratitude to all those present and to everyone involved in the effort to construct the new plant. He also explained the strategic position of YIA Mexico and the benefits that this expansion of its production capacity will bring to the region and to Yokohama Rubber.
The MB Segment’s growth strategy in Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), Yokohama Rubber’s medium-term management plan for fiscal years 2024–2026, positions strengthening the hose & couplings business as a growth driver. To achieve that goal, the MB Segment is restructuring its value chain and North American production network, and the expansion of production capacity at YIA Mexico is part of that effort.
