Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce that on February 3 its “ADVAN” racing tires were adopted as the control tire for WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup races to be run in 2018–19. Under the two-year contract, Yokohama Rubber will supply ADVAN A005 as the dry-surface tire and ADVAN A006 as the wet-surface tire for the races. The size of both tires to be supplied will be 250/660R18.

WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is the new name for the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which will run to the TCR technical regulations.

Yokohama Rubber was named the new series’ sole tire supplier in recognition of the company’s support for the WTCC for 12 consecutive years, 2006–17. The 2018 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is due to take place over 9 events, with the first round to be held in Morocco on April 7-8.

Races run under TCR regulations have become popular around the world because of the lower running costs and the close nature of the racing. In addition to the WTCR, Yokohama Rubber will be supporting the TCR Europe, TCR UK, TCR Portugal, TCR Benelux, and TCR Middle East racing series. The selection of “ADVAN” tires as the control tires for the WTCR is the latest achievement in the brand’s long history, which dates back 40 years to the launch of the “ADVAN HF” in 1978.
