Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that its “W*drive V905” winter tire sold primarily in Europe had achieved very high scores on winter tire tests conducted by Europe’s largest automobile club, Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC). The tests were performed on 205/55 R16 H size tires.

ADAC tests include wet, dry, snow and ice performance tests that examine the tires’ handling, safety, and braking performance under those actual road conditions. Assessments are also made for noise, wear, and fuel consumption, under uniform conditions. “W*drive V905’s” overall score placed it in the top two of 19 recently tested tires.

The YOKOHAMA tire received the highest possible score for dry-road performance and “good” scores for its performance on wet and snow-covered roads. Overall, its performance was rated as “extremely well-balanced”.

“W*drive V905” is made from a compound that combines micro silica with Yokohama Rubber’s self-developed environmental technology Orange Oil. This compound enhances the tires’ snow and water evacuation properties, resulting in superior gripping power. In addition, reduced rolling resistance contributes to the tires’ superior fuel efficiency. These qualities are helping the “W*drive V905” win a strong following among drivers as a winter tire.
