3-D shaped sipes
The tire employs uniquely developed 3-D shaped sipes. The sipes, which are shaped into a three-tier pyramid, suppress breakdown of the tread block. This contributes to exceptional stiffness on dry surfaces and outstanding edge effects on wet surfaces.

Excellent Wet Grip and Off Road Traction
4 deep main grooves
The four wide, straight grooves enhance drainage performance and provide exceptional maneuverability and anti-aquaplaning capabilities on wet surfaces.

Optimized lug groove
For the design, the lug grooves get narrower as they approach the center section and gradually wider as they approach the grounded edge of the shoulder. This helps to beat down off-road surfaces for greater traction.

  • (A)The compound is a blend of three types of polymer with differing functions.All of the functions required of the compound have been improved, namely wear resistance, flexibility in low temperatures and resistance to cuts and chipping.
  • (B)Blending in Orange Oil realizes a flexible compound at the micro level. This improves tracking performance over minute undulations in the road surface as well as enhancing grip strength on both wet and dry roads.
  • (C)For silica, which enhances performance in the wet, it is critical that particles inside the compound are dispersed evenly. YOKOHAMA promotes the uniform dispersion of silica through its unique compounding technology.

Ordinary compounds stiffen up in low temperatures, which tends to compromise grip. The new compound stays softer in cold temperatures, making it more adaptable to winter roads.

The use of Orange Oil compound enables the tread rubber to stick closely to undulations on the road surface at the micro level, thereby ensuring exceptional grip in the wet.

Wear is more pronounced in summer when road surface temperature is high. The new compound blends polymers that are resistant to wear to ensure excellent anti-wear performance even in hot weather.

Achieves Both Maneuverability and Comfortable Driving
New pitch variation
Rather than have uniform block pitch in a circumferential direction, the tire employs pitch sequence of differing size. The frequency of the pitch is dispersed to reduce pattern noise. There is also less burden on the block, which contributes to a reduction in uneven wear.
